We now speak to JUMP CUT Youth Committee Vice President Heyson Tang.

「跳線」獨立電影節…
「跳線」獨立電影節旨在與廣大觀眾分享我們年青一代對電影的取向和意識，還有我們對電影的喜悅和狂熱。與一眾青年委員看電影，再不斷的討論，又參與大師班，是個漫長的過程，但感覺十分新鮮好玩，亦令我更瞭解電影製作以外的一片天，及認識默默為電影幕後付出的人。

 JUMP CUT Independent Film Festival …
 JUMP CUT is a space for us youth to share our knowledge and perspectives about film with the general public. It is also about the joy and passion we have towards film. Working with the youth committee – watching movies, discussing them and taking part in the masterclasses – it’s been a long process, but has been absolutely fresh and fun. It’s given me whole new perspectives on film-making, and also in recognizing the efforts of those who contribute to the industry behind-the-scenes.

對你而言，甚麼是電影？你認為電影是一門藝術嗎？
「電影」客觀上是一連串反映事件的影像，但我更認為它是一種人造幻覺和魔術。電影絕對是一種藝術，能以線性或非線性的方式敘述事件，亦具有反映「真、善、美」的功能。

我是在香港獨立短片及錄像比賽及香港國際電影節首度接觸獨立電影。

To you, what is film?
Objectively, film is a series of images that depict an issue. But I also see film as illusions and magic created by man. Film is an artform that can portray events in a linear or nonlinear manner, and has the ability to reflect the ‘true’, the ‘good’ and the ‘beautiful’.

I first encountered independent films at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Competition and at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

你最喜愛的電影及在「跳線」電影節中的最愛電影是甚麼？
最近，我最喜愛的電影是波蘭斯基（Roman Polański）的《魔鬼怪嬰》，低調敘述故事，卻恐怖非常，生活中的心寒絲絲滲透我心。「跳線」的電影之中，我最愛《牠殺》，尤其喜愛其不作評論的敘事手法，讓我猶如置身於主角的精神幻覺之中。

What are your favourite films?
Most recently,  my favourite film is Roman Polański’s “Rosemary’s Baby”. Although It adopts a very subtle storytelling method, it depicts the very horrors of life that penetrate deep into my heart. Within JUMP CUT, my favourite is “Demon Kills”. I particularly like that it uses a non-judgemental tone. It allows me to slip into the protagonists’ hallucinations.
